After World War II, the world changed, especially for some of the biggest nations like the United States and the USSR. With them being some of the biggest powers, their differences in ideologies started to really show and lead them to compete with each other. The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union had a profound and far-reaching impact on numerous nations and regions across the globe from 1945 to 1989, such as Proxy Wars, Economic Aid and Influence, and Ideological Divisions. Proxy wars were a key way in which the Cold War between the US and the USSR affected other countries and areas. The Korean War, which began in 1950 when North Korean and Communist forces invaded South Korea and swiftly drew in Chinese Communist troops
After World War two had ended both the United States and the Soviet Union, also known as the USSR, had become reigning countries in the world. While both held great power it also caused chaos leading to extreme rivalry and the Cold War. Since this rivalry between these two nations was foreign is caused a great deal of effect on the United States foreign policy however it also deeply damaged the United States domestic policy through the fear of potential attacks of atomic bombs, the changes in the U.S defense budget, and the constant fear of the spread of communism within the nation. STALIN Stalin had both positive and negative effects on the Soviet Union during his time of rule. He brought forth many great ideas, but these ideas also affected the Union in a negative way. The five year plan was a system that Stalin came up with. This meant that they would follow a plan for five years, then when that five years was up, they would follow a different plan. He believed that this would help the Soviet Union keep up at a pace that the rest of the world was moving.
In WW2 the United States and the Soviet Union were allies. So what caused all this tension and rivalry between them in the first place? That eventually led to the Cold War. There were three main reasons that I believe were the stepping stones to this, difference in government, distrust and anger. At the time Russia was a Communist country meaning that no one owns land, or their own property, and instead of like the US where some people are more wealthy than others, everyone is at the same level.
Tensions were very high between the Soviet Union and America at the end of WWII, and would only continue to escalate. America and the USSR rarely agreed and during WWII they were only able to work together because of the common enemy of Germany. At this point in time the USSR was communist and expanding their hold on land around them. At the Yalta conference in 1945, America and Great Britain agreed to give the Soviet Union control over Poland and Ukraine, and in return the Soviets agreed to use free elections in those countries. The Soviets went back on their word and ruled with communism.

Following USSR expansion, tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union had risen, with both sides seeking to expand their spheres of influence and prestige. The Cold War was fought primarily through proxy wars, and the rivalry between the two superpowers was characterized by an intense nuclear arms race, a space race, and a struggle over political ideology. In the United States, fears about the spread of communism triggered a policy of diplomatic containment. However, as China fell to communism and the Korean War broke out, diplomatic strategies shifted to military strategies.
The Cold War was a war full of politics and beliefs along with brutal fighting. Communism was seen as a major threat to the United States. The Soviet Union was trying to, at the time, influence other countries of its communist beliefs in hopes of gaining allies and resources. The Soviets expanded after WWII and the Americans feared this, adding tense to their “alliance.” The Soviet Union’s main targets were Europe but also to gain global exposure and power as well.
The Cold War was a long period of tension between the democracies in the Western part of the World and the communist countries in Eastern Europe. The United States led the west and the Soviet Union led Eastern Europe. The Cold War ended in 1991 after the Soviet Union fell. After this war, Russia and America’s relationship was going on a downward spiral. The contemporary relationship between Russia and America does mark a Second Cold War, because just because Russia and America have similar hopes to achieve they both have completely different ways of achieve those goals, and in many cases these differences in opinions have caused problems between the two.

The 1950's was a time of great change in the United States with many types of events and changes happening from then to now. Also having many different inventions created or "upgraded" from the original like the automobile progressing still. They had more highways built for transportation during war in case of bombs going off, so now we use those today for driving, moving, and transportation. With many military events happening you had the Cold War going on with others as well. One of others going on was the Korean War starting in the 50's.
