For example, because my discourse is more of a family than a community it has taught me that: even though you will come across people that you don’t like or get along with you still need to treat them with respect. Also, that you will come across classes where you will have to work together, just like in stage crew and there is more than one way to get your work done. Secondly, when in groups or having to deal with other individuals, they are human beings and will be different from you. But you cannot let other students walk all over you; and if you need to talk to a teacher it has taught me how to be assertive in my needs and wants. Without this skill, school would be much more difficult because without communication skills, you will fail.
For example, we learn how to talk to each other and communicate because everyone communicate differently. School also teach us how to talk to people, and meet new friends. School when you are young should be most of your life. We spend around 40 hours a week in school, so there need to be more than just
Making new friends and social interactions have made high school much more enjoyable, and has greatly improved my confidence and boosted my independence. During high school, I rediscovered the importance of family. I always had their unwavering support. I used to take it for granted, and it went unappreciated.
Education is a necessary tool that you carry throughout your life. School is the first place to provide you with that, after your parents. School is an integral part of shaping who you are and giving you the exact tools you need to succeed and I believe joining clubs is an extension of learning and it is a great way of having fun. I love to be an active part of the school community. It is a great way of giving back to the place that has given me so much.
Because few people interacted with me I was able to focus on myself and my academics. I only had my books and music to keep me company. Without the social experience most people had, I figured I would work to be better than before. Now here I am.
What happens to their friendships is one thing that might help students before they get here? For example, I learned about quality over quantity, having friends that care and are there for me is more meaning full than having a lot of friends that may or
Have you ever dreamt of doing something, but fear held you back? Being fascinated by glass art my whole life I have always been intrigued by the idea of doing it but could never find out how to start. Then I found Salem's Scientific Glass program and although having no prior experience and having fear about using the expensive machinery, I discovered a true love for creating glass art. As a Glass Artist, my journey has taught me that fear should never stand in the way of pursuing one's passions and that hard work and determination are key to success and fulfillment. My transformation from an intimidated beginner to becoming a more skilled glassblower demonstrates this truth and serves as inspiration for others to take risks and embrace their
This kind of schooling is important for students because it gives them an opportunity to learn a certain piece of material from peers and rely on each other which can give a sense of importance in one's life. I would choose this kind of learning because I think it is important to interact more with each other and I think it’s a really cool style of learning. I’m not all that social, but maybe more people that aren’t should
As the picture shows above, I’m a musician. This picture shows the satisfaction of the hard work that has gone into months of learning/perfecting new music then putting the music and myself in front of people and trying to communicate what the music means to me. Unfortunately, this picture is incapable of showing just how deeply I love music. I believe that everybody has a hard time presenting who they really are/how they think to other people, but for a brief moment of time, writing/performing a new piece will let people see more about someone than words could ever show. Being able to effectively communicate through this method not only enriches the life of the musician, it can enriches the life of his/her peers and the community around the musician.
We must acknowledge that there will be times where we lose our position, only to realize where we stand. Growing up life seemed hard, but now I realized how amazing it was; I had a family who loved me and I was never seen different (discriminated), I was always told I had four very impart jobs: have respect for people even if I didn’t like them, do good in school, always ask questions and never forget where I came from, little did I know I realized where I came from after I left. When I came to the United States of America, New York became a dream, but we must all wake up and stop dreaming; I did after my mother past away a year after I’ve arrived. The world became gray, for I was very downhearted and life felt like death because of all the
It is such a realization that has motivated me to conclude that contributing to the professional evolution of architecture will provide me with a feeling of fulfillment and provide me with a meaningful
Social skills is possibly the most important skill learned at public school other than actual learning. The social skills learned at school can be applied to everything that the students will do for the rest of their life. It is believed that it essential for students learn to interact with each other. Without
I’ve learned that school itself also holds many life lessons in which shape my self-concept. School has made me focused and determined. I’ve set some unrealistic goals, but have seemed to achieve many of them with sheer determination. Guidance from teachers and peers has had a big influence. I’ve been pushed out of my comfort zone and proved to myself that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
The benefit and purpose of school is to gain new knowledge and socialize with other people. The importance of school is taken to consideration as it helps you to meet the grades that you need to go further in life, and the skills/knowledge that can be accomplished and improved. School opens up a lot of opportunities for young people because it is the one place where they go to get new life skills and experience. School is somewhere where young people are able to practice their techniques/learning and form social bonds with other students. School is not just for learning but also for young people to help from in a way that they can also build their social skills and attributes when interacting with other students.
My educational journey has been an experience I will remember. I have attended school in three different countries, Antigua, St. Thomas, and New York. A diverse educational experience has allowed me to interact with many different cultures and confront many of the different topics we discussed in class. At that time however, I was not fully aware of the implications of certain situation but after many readings I can now fully understand many of the experiences I encountered in my journey. All the information I have learned in this class however will bring all my experience together where I can make much more sense of it than I could when I was younger.
