I have been blessed enough to call the small town of Mullins my home for a vast majority of my 18 years. Growing up here with my grandparents really taught me a lot about how to treat people and how to be the best person I can be. Between them and my parents I learned at an early age that I have the ability to succeed in whatever I choose to do in life no matter what it may be. They also taught me that the best way to get where I want to be is through education. Although none of them have a college degree I’m proud to say they are all extremely intelligent and well rounded, which I’m glad to say rubbed off on me. Coming into high school I was all over the place from day one, but I always kept focused on the main goal; gain and spread knowledge. I remember every IGP meeting I ever had and all of them were different, I would come in every time with a different idea of what my calling was. Now that it’s my senior year and I’ve been blessed enough with the opportunity to become a Teacher Cadet I can now say with confidence what I’m meant to do. After that everything has just fallen into place from getting accepted into the best school for education in the state to being able to participate in this scholarship. The University I plan to attend in the fall is going to cost roughly $30,000 and although I’ve never had to struggle for the necessities $30k is a large amount for my family. I will be majoring in education, I haven’t figured out what grade level I’d like to teach yet but I’m leaning towards high school at the moment. I have had a close relationship with almost every teacher I’ve had and they have all been people I not only admire for their personal teaching styles but for the things they accomplish in a short 180
