During the start and the end of the fall semester year of 2015/20116 at Montgomery College, my life changed dramatically for me. Going back to school after graduating four years ago at Baltimore Freedom Academy high schoolHigh School has been challenging for me, but of course it’s challenging for anybody with the same circumstances of not being academically active for all those years, and almost forgetting all the retained information that was given from previous teachers. I felt like my brain was rotting, yet the really bad part about it is that, I wasn’t doing what I loved, which was playing organized college basketball. Throughout my journey of the fall semester, challenges came my way from left to right, but the hardest of all that I’ve faced are adjusting to the student athlete life style again at a college level, trying to learn and complete all that’s given to me from my professor, and working a part time job to help support myself. Upon my preparation for the fall semester, I was able to work out during the summer at the Montgomery College gym, the gym was packed with other students that where were in the same

Pursuing a degree in education, allows us to be lifelong learners. Whether it be learning about different classroom management strategies, effective instructional strategies, how to manage different types of behaviors, and how to develop relationships with your students. Being a teacher, also involves learning about yourself and your students in order to develop meaningful and engaging lessons that will allow for students to retain information and then later recall upon their knowledge. Picking to attend a Community college for me is the best choice that I picked for my education. Community colleges provide a great service to students in many more ways other than just education. They help students who are unsure what they want to do or are unable to attend a four year university. Community Colleges also provide continuing education even after they have gotten a degree and a job.
Living in hope, with our beliefs, and with little expectation of others is the way forward. My parents, simple and honest human beings, have high expectations of me, wishing that I too, like them, grew up to be an honorable person. Irrespective of the hurdles, to push ahead with all one’s might is the only way to succeed. Living this philosophy, my father, a genuine rags to riches story, altered my life, leading by example and encouraging me to follow the path of righteousness.
To begin with, last year I began studying a bachelor of nursing to pursue a career in either nursing itself or transfer after first year to paramedics. After finishing 2014 university I decided that nursing wasn’t for me, so I had to make another big life decision in which I had to choose a career path.
