Reflecting on my personal and educational goals I believe UNCW, Wilmington will not only allow me to grow as a student or person, but will create new challenges in my life that will lead to fulfilling my goal of becoming a successful woman someday. Growing up in a small town off the Coast of Maine, I have grown up learning to do things on my own and that things in life aren 't handed to you. Since I was able to work I have been; racking blueberries, hauling lobster traps, digging for clams, working in diners, and much more. I have learned to be independent and to not have to rely on others. The one thing in life I have always wanted is to be able make something of myself and to build a successful future and not have to stress or struggle.
The experience I gained while managing my own research project and designing experiments have greatly prepared me for Ph.D. research, where I will have the exciting opportunity to explore and discover things that have not been known before. By spending extensive time in the research laboratory and interacting with current graduate students, I know what to expect on a day-to-day basis in graduate school. I realize that with every exciting result in research, there are going to be problems to work out along the way. I enjoy the challenge of overcoming the unknown to uncover a scientific truth. Graduate level research is the best training I can have to prepare me for a career in biotechnology or therapeutics, in which I aspire to become a leader
Going to College I think college will be stricter than high school. Stressful, more responsibility, the lifestyle is different. Theme I think money is big dill because if you do something to get in trouble and take you out four a whole year.

Throughout my second semester I have grown in investigating the world and communicate ideas and grown my knowledge and College Career Readiness as a student. Throughout high school, I have always asked myself, what do I want to do after high school is done?If I go to college what classes will I take? My parents have always told me to go to college after high school because getting a higher education would help me achieve my goals of traveling and experiencing different cultures in the future. I listened to them and decided to go after after I finished high school. Although, It took me a while to reach my decision because there was one thing holding me back.
Growing up I’d just figured school and learning had a cutoff point (fast forward some 30 plus year’s later), boy was I wrong. Now married with kids, I must show them how continuing educational goals helps them be successful in life. Recently I had a talk with my oldest child (who is a high school freshman) about how important it is to get good grades. In our conversation I ask him what he want to be “a Sports Doctor!” he said.
My personal and professional goals are to become an administrator in the education field. I want to pursue this degree to be able to help guide teachers and future leaders on how to be successful in the classroom by using best practices in their classroom teaching and managing students. The motivation that I have for pursuing this degree is the desire to ensure that all students have the necessary tools to be successful and thrive not only in the school setting but for the long term. This degree will equip me with the resources on how to put the best practices in schools. This degree will also provide me with the resources as an administrator on how to implement various strategies within individual classrooms.
My goals have changed a lot over the last couple of years. Bouncing back and forth between majors and deciding if I even want to be taking college classes right now. I kept asking myself why I should struggle with hard classes when I have a good job right now. But then I stopped and repeated “good job right now.” My job as a twenty year old might support me right now but is it going to support me in ten or fifteen years when I’m trying to buy a house and support my family?

We live in an ever growing, fast-paced, technologically-advanced world. I have set goals in my personal, educational, and professional life that prepare me to grow and change with that world. These goals for myself embrace moving with the ebb and flow rather than fighting against the burgeoning current of our advancements. My personal, educational, and professional goals favor the idea of welcoming change. When I envision who I will be in the future, I envision myself to be different compared to who I am now as a result of the goals I have established in my personal life.
When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree. I plan on attending Purdue NorthWest majoring in engineering and minoring in business. This is my number one future goal that I need to accomplish because to be able to have a nice life, I need to go to college to support my future family. My next future goal would be get a starting job to be able to support my future family.
