Returning to college has been an exciting and terrifying decision for me. My husband has encouraged me for 1-2 years, but my fear of failure overwhelmed me and kept me from pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree. I wasn’t even sure what I wanted to pursue. I’m now on this journey and ready for whatever it is that God has planned for me. I have worked hard encouraged my three kids as they transitioned their way through elementary school through middle school and on to high school and graduation.
Going to college is more than just extending your education. College is a time to make connections, grow as a person, and to prepare for the so-called “real world”. At K-State, I plan to make the most of my opportunities inside and out of the classroom to benefit from the school. Inside the classroom I plan to learn the proper skills and gain the knowledge I need to be a successful member of the work force as soon as I start my career.
By nature, I am adventurous; I like to understand the world around me. As Benjamin Franklin stated, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” I resonate with this quote because I explore my interests best when I am fully involved in a lesson, experiment, or discussion. College is a big decision in one’s life, especially as a senior in high school. Students are expected to go to college to gain further knowledge in the career path they have chosen. Amanda Baratz, for example, is a freshman at Kehillah Jewish High School in San Jose, California. The summer after her freshman year, she will fly to Georgetown University for a five week course about medical careers. She hopes to see an open heart surgery while she is there.
When I became a Freshman in highschool, I had my whole life planned out. I knew that I wanted to grow up to be a famous singer. I was going to go to Belmont University and graduate with my Bachelor’s degree. I wanted to be in the spotlight. I wanted people to know my name and to sing my songs.

This semester has me stressed more than I have before, so stressed about AP exams and college readiness.
There are many different things that can impact students in their high school years. Whether these things are friends, activities, or the sports they participate in they all impact the student. Many opportunities are presented to students in high school, although not many impacts the student beyond high school, I believe this opportunity will impact me forever. I would love to be a part of the Early College Program this coming spring. I believe the program will do nothing but help me grow and strive to be a better student and continue being involved.
After graduating high school comes college. Although college is expensive, Those students who put effort and maintain good grades get an academic scholarship. Most importantly in order to graduate college you'll have to stay focused. Secondly,in addition to being success.
With senior year of high school coming to a close, comes an overwhelming amount of stress about moving away to college. At the beginning of this school year, I was eager to leave and excited to go away, but I came to a realization that leaving home alarms me. At this point in time, I began to notice just how much my parents do for me and just ruminating about everything I would have to do on my own now, makes me nervous. School has never been an issue for me but what my friends say about college, makes it even more petrified to go. Being constantly asked questions like, “how do you always get your work done?” or “how do you have such good time management?” reassures me that I will do fine in college.
I grew up in a third world country that prioritized rapid industrialization above environmental sustainability with the end result of highly unacceptable levels of toxic industrial wastes and effluent emissions. Seeing the thunderous cheers and jubilation from oil and gas engineers when an oil well is perforated and extraction begins without considering the negative effects this has on the environment, is quite alarming. I always wondered if the multiple oil spills, or casual gas flaring, was due to the incompetence of the engineers on the job, or just an unavoidable side-effect of oil and gas production. What I Expect to Receive from College Starting off, I would like to say college is something that should be taken seriously and not to be put off to the side for the last minute in terms of your work. I believe if you truly want to get one-hundred percent out of college than you truly need to give it your all to receive it back. In other words, if you leave college work for the last minute to be done and only put minimal effort, then you should expect to only get a minimal understanding of the work you do and minimal knowledge of the material. Moving on, the point I am trying perceive is, what I’m expecting to get out of college is if I do my work to my utmost ability, then I shall have the best understanding and knowledge of the material. While that is one main point in my expectations I also have many more things I expect to get from college as a student.
Lastly, college will help me learn how to be on my own. I will gain responsibility because I no longer have my parents by my side to cook my meals, clean my room and clothes, or wake me up every morning to go to class. I will be exposed more to life as an adult while making new friends and exploring my interests. In college, there can be many distractions like parties, but I will have to concentrate and study instead of going out. I want to get the best education I can for myself
