The Addiction That Differentiated Both Wes Moores When we reflect on our life, we create a metaphorical puzzle. These puzzle pieces represent all of the small decisions we made. Inside of those decisions, also consists of other people and how they influenced our upbringings. When this puzzle is put together, all of these decisions create one big picture.
I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Similar to other immigrants my family history is somewhat compelling. Starting with my grandfather who was exiled out of Egypt in 1959 primarily as a result of the "decolonization process and the rise of Egyptian nationalism”, my immediate family and I also left France in 2004 as a result of rising tension against Jews. The migration of my grandparents and parents, from a young age, cultivated a sense of determination in me to overcome obstacles. Arriving in Miami at age 5, I had to learned my third language, English, in order to attend school. I was determined to and successfully lost my accent and got tested into the gifted program after a year of school.
I would like to attend Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi because it has one of the best nursing programs. I have been accepted into this university. It is close to my hometown which makes me feel safe. Attending the university will be a good experience for me.
SMU provides opportunities for students to participate in research. I am thrilled at the prospect of conducting research with the mentorship of a faculty professor or getting involved in research within the engaged learning initiative. Ongoing research by SMU professors of biology relating to cancer and gene expression is interesting, and particularly exciting to me because I want to pursue a career in medicine. In addition, SMU is located in the Dallas where I live.
The main reason why I would love to attend Cal Lutheran is because of my sophomore year homeroom teacher, a Cal Lutheran alumni. During my sophomore year, I struggled in Algebra 2, and my teacher helped me by giving me additional support. She is a wonderful person, who says that part of the person she is today is because of her college years. She talked a lot about her experiences in Cal Lutheran and how it contributed to her future, and I would picture myself in Cal Lutheran doing the things she was doing. I would like to attend Cal Lutheran because I want to become a helpful and wonderful person just like my teacher.
I am interested in Howard University because it is an HBCU that encompass the themes of cultural diversity and education. As I think of the University of Mississippi, the aspect that most impresses me, and is an addition to my desire to immerse myself in this prominent learning community is the University's outstanding resources. I am very attracted to the opportunity to explore and learn at the University of Mississippi's science departments. Science has been my academic passion ever since I entered middle school. Since then, I have always wanted to get into the medical field to become a neurologist. I believe the brain is a black box with endless mysteries waiting to be explored.
My childhood was not most would consider to be easy. Both my mother and father had addiction issues that forced my younger brother and I to care for ourselves. By the time I reached the fifth grade, I had attended five different elementary schools. On the days that I did actually go to school, I was not on time. A few years later, I moved in with my grandparents, and my entire life improved.
I am very excited to apply to Full Sail University. Ever since I was little girl there have always been two careers that have sparked my interest and that I’ve wanted to pursue. The first career is Computer Technician, which my Uncle inspired me to play around with computes. He was who taught me a thing or two about computers. He really enjoyed what he does for a living.
One of the most appealing things about University of Oregon is the active inclusion and constant work towards creating a more expansive community. I hope to study Philosophy with a minor in ethnic studies or women and gender studies. These majors I feel will help me pursue my personal goal of a diverse education. As a woman from a conservative part of the east bay with a unique connection to the LGBTQ+ community, I feel that I have a lot to offer to the diverse discourse that The University of Oregon offers. Additionally being a person of privilege I see that I have a responsibility to take a set back and listen to those who have less fortunate geopolitical locations.
The University of Miami offers many selective majors and minors for students. I am eager to start a new chapter and gain many opportunities, and experiences with a high-level education from the University of Miami. The reason I want to transfer to the University is because it’s time for me to move on to a bigger environment. Furthermore, I would like to participate in the most honorable athletic programs in the country. I believe the culture at Miami would be a good fit for me because of the diverse student body on campus.
