I will be graduating with a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in December 2017, and I then wish to pursue an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University. My reason for selecting Texas A&M University is that the Department of Engineering is superb, a well-recognized history of academic and excellent research environment. Therefore, I will be able to reach my full academic potential in the Texas A&M University, which will enable me to become a highly qualified electrical engineer. I would also like to express my desire to complete a PhD program upon completion of my master’s degree, since I would like to begin my career with the highest possible credentials in my field of expertise. Thus, I was fortunate enough to be influenced in this area of expertise by my family, and I must say they have all been very encouraging and supportive of my academic pursuits. During my undergraduate studies, I have had the privilege of working in two research projects related to power and energy systems. In my sophomore year, I was afforded the chance to work with Dr. Zhaoyu Wang’s research group, where I was charged with analyzing the big AMI data of customers and predicted the demand curve for the next year by utilizing Matlab. This valuable research experience afforded me the opportunity to garner a further knowledge of research and data analysis under the professional guidance of Dr. Wang and graduate student Nichelle’Le Carrington, but I also learned how to conduct independent analysis and projections. However, I am fully aware that I am in need of more hands-on experience conducting research and in becoming more familiar with reading complex literature and research papers. I suppose my most important deficit is in learning how to use other software programs for a variety of research applications. Currently, I am the leader of my senior design team, and the project is related to enhance the power distribution system for Algona. The Algona is a city of about 5500 people in
