I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Similar to other immigrants my family history is somewhat compelling. Starting with my grandfather who was exiled out of Egypt in 1959 primarily as a result of the "decolonization process and the rise of Egyptian nationalism”, my immediate family and I also left France in 2004 as a result of rising tension against Jews. The migration of my grandparents and parents, from a young age, cultivated a sense of determination in me to overcome obstacles. Arriving in Miami at age 5, I had to learned my third language, English, in order to attend school. I was determined to and successfully lost my accent and got tested into the gifted program after a year of school.
I am interested in Howard University because it is an HBCU that encompass the themes of cultural diversity and education. Your commitment to scholars ensures me that at your school I will be right at home. Since I intend on on going down a medical path, I know that Howard University will provide me with best resources to follow my dreams. As a child I was always interested in the worlds around me and how things worked. As a result I participated in a Summer Enrichment Program located at Indiana University in Bloomington.
I currently am a junior Nursing major and Psychology minor at the illustrious Winston Salem State University. My choice to attend a HBCU has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my twenty one years of life. It brings my heart so much pleasure in all thing that I do at my HBCU. Deciding to enroll at a HBCU is something much bigger than myself. I am my ancestor’s wildest dreams
I expect my college experience to equip me with knowledge and skills on how to become an effective and influential elementary school teacher and I know that ACU has a successful education program that will provide me with internships, classroom experience, and courses that will teach me how to impact and educate even the most challenging students in a classroom. Furthermore, since I will be away from my church back in Dallas if I'm accepted into ACU, I expect to maintain a stronghold of my faith even while I'm far from home. God is the center of my life and I want to grow even closer to Him and others who love Him like I do, that is why I'm applying to ACU where teachers and classmates value their relationships with God and can help me sustain
During my time at USC, I hope to not only major in computer science, but also to acquire entrepreneurial and leadership expertise. When I graduate, I hope to use my major in computer science to get a job at a technology firm to get gain a better understanding of the technology industry. After learning more about the technology industry for a few years, I hope to establish an organization using the entrepreneurial and leadership skills that I acquire from USC. The purpose of this organization would be to benefit the lives of everyday people through technology. The power of technology is immense and, if used correctly, can make everyone’s life better.
I worked at Hofstra Summer Camps last year, and I can honestly say that that summer was the best summer of my entire life. I spent the summer surrounded by alumni of the school which made me realize just how diverse Hofstra really is. I also noticed, while walking around the campus, that Hofstra is one of the most prideful schools I have ever seen, and I want to be surrounded by all of that, everyday. The sheer amount of activities the school offers, from sororities and fraternities, to academic interest clubs, I have never seen a school more well rounded in all aspects of student life. My uncle, who is an alumni of the school, told me the best years of his life were spent at Hofstra, and that made me realize just how much I wanted what he had.
The heart of New York City is New York University. By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States. Additionally, I will be able to be part of an internationally recognized learning network with locations all across the globe. It would be a pleasure to study at a globally recognized university. A friend of mine who is a recent graduate from NYU College of Nursing has praised the program and conveyed to me a very positive experience.
With its dedicated faculty, diverse location, and vast network, USC's Marshall School of Business will help me prosper in the world of business! I hopefully intend to use these opportunities to its fullest potential by studying harder than I've ever studied-- USC is my "reach" school and I want to keep up with other students-- and soaking in SoCal culture to broaden my scope on business trends and life in LA. Because LA is such a diverse area, I am bound to gain insight on many different cultures, social classes, trends, and types of people, which will give me a unique, firsthand experience with communication and boost my overall knowledge! I plan on using this to help myself succeed in business and stand out when I apply for an internship
There are many things that I’m looking forward to in this next year. This includes my academic interests, career objective, and some SDSU activities. My academic interests would be to go into either Interior Design or Animal Science. I haven’t fully decided which one I will go into, but I know that SDSU will be able to help me narrow this down. I’ve chosen these two careers because they seemed interesting to me.
I chose to pursue a degree in political science in order to obtain a career that would provide me the capacity to have a significant and lasting impact on my community. As a political science student at USC, I would pursue any opportunity that would enrich my academic experience as well as allow me to become an effective leader that contributes to the USC community. One potential opportunity that I would seek upon becoming a USC student is to join the Political Science Undergraduate Association, or the PSUA. As a dedicated student, I admire the experience and knowledge of each faculty member and consider them invaluable resources. I believe that joining this organization and eventually gaining a leadership role would allow me to promote learning
My intended major here at CWU is to double major in Sociology and Middle level Math teaching. I was born and raised in Wenatchee, Washington and after College I hope to be a math teacher at a low-income school because they are usually schools teachers don’t want to teach at and usually have a higher population in students of color. I want to make an impact and change in students therefore I don’t mind getting paid less and having less resources to work with. From this class I hope to gain an insight to teaching math, and start to develop skills and ways to teach math. I also hope to develop connections with my classmates.
Serving as the student advisor for the 56th President’s Leadership Class has given me a chance to express my passion of developing others. At the same time I have been able to instill the value of loving what you do. I never thought, however, that I could turn this passion into a career. While working in the Student Affairs department at The University of Oklahoma, I have been able to simultaneously observe the adults who work in the office. The employees in OU’s Student Affairs department live out my passions day in and day out.
U of M, a world renowned university that excels all around in academics, from economics and business to science and engineering, offers me the chance to develop the necessary cross functional expertise through a broad based education. Unlike other university, U of M remains affordable and accessible while providing Ivy League level of education. More importantly, U of M’s distinguished Business and Computer Science programs will provide me with the necessary tools to develop real world expertise in FinTech, and a large network of similarly motivated classmates to team up with, to make my dream a reality. I choose University of Michigan as my primary college destination because of the educational opportunity offered by the School of Information. Utilizing the model of management information system, I hope to pursue my career in technology centric business, particularly that of FinTech.
One of the reasons Penn. State University is a primary candidate for my future studies is the diversity of the student populace, as I believe the number of unique cultures and peoples represented throughout the institution will be beneficial to myself and my peers. For most of my life, I have lived as the son of a member of the United States Air Force, and the diversity in the places that I have lived and the diversity of the people who lived there have deeply shaped my life. People of different religions, different races, and different heritages have lived around me throughout most of my life, and their ideas and ideals have influenced me. However, I realized how much I had taken cultural diversity for granted once my father retired from the Air Force and moved to our current location.
