Arguably our lives, including mine, have been continually governed by the social environment and the sophisticated way in which society has evolved and progressed. My interest in Sociology was sparked by my love for science and learning about how everything works. As I grew older my passion for science evolved towards social sciences. The way in which we have all been affected in many different subtle ways and my increased ability to examine this, has motivated me to want to know more about Sociology, and therefore the world around me, in particular the education system.

My learning has enclosed impassioned debates on topics such as feminism, sexism and education; these debates have been thought provoking, making me reconsider the actions I have made and my everyday choices. I have observed so much about the indirect influences on individual, as well as group behaviour, and would like to continue learning. This includes looking into contemporary society as an influence on education, by reading articles on the Guardian's Society Section to gain awareness of current debates including YouGOV to keep track of statistics in the country. …show more content…

For instance Milgram's findings on obedience have allowed me find that individuals can be unrelenting in following orders, even if it involves hindering positive social change. My extra reading into psychology has enabled me to extend my knowledge of how the education system works for example, Piaget's findings in child development have affected the structure of the education system that we have today.
