The author explains her journey starting as a registered nurse and ending with pursuing a Ph.D. or doctorate in nursing. This article is to inspire students to keep going in accomplishing their goals. The author explains that getting started was the hardest part. But she did not stop there.
Roles and purpose of organizations American Nurses Association (ANA) ANA also known as the American Nurses Association is consider to be one of the loudest voices for Registered Nurses today. ANA has been around since before 1911. ANA represents all Registered Nurses today and makes sure that there is an adequate amount of nurses that are highly skilled and well educated. They not only make sure that the healthcare system is getting the most up to date and accurate skilled nurses, they are a true advocate for nurses in the work place as well as the general public. ANA has made their standards high for practicing nursing to improve the overall health care.
I am currently an employee of Wintersong Nursing Village in Knox, Indiana. My mother is a registered nurse and she also works in assisted care facilities all across my state. Since I was a little girl, my mother would always take me to work with her and teach me that the elderly deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Because of my passion for assisting and and talking to the elderly, I have decided to pursue a career in Speech Language Pathology and work permanently in a long term care facility. I know that aging matters because elderly people are wise, they're thankful and they're caring, and everyone ages.

My academic goal is to pursue an education as a Registered Nurse and hopefully a three-year Bachelor of Science degree program in the future. For my parents, education was not something that came easy in Mexico. They had to have money and supplies, which they did not.
Personal Statement for Nursing School “When a person decides to become a Nurse. They make the most important decision of their lives. They choose to dedicate themselves to the care of others” Growing up in Nigeria; I had my first introduction to the field of medicine at the age of 6. At the time, my grand father was a holistic doctor at my local community. Whenever my grandfather went to work, he would take me with him and I remembered being very fascinated by how people would come in to get treatments for different kinds of diseases.
My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As clinical rotations began, what was once considered a mere opportunity evolved into a true passion for caring as I truly love and enjoy nursing and helping people.
As several of the individuals who decide to develop a career in the healthcare field, my desire of becoming a nurse comes from past experiences which have made me appreciate the field and its merits. Being raised in a single parent household gave me the responsibility and effectiveness of dealing with difficult situations. Qualifications that are expected to be acquired as nurse and I hope to attain much more as a student of the College of Nursing’s Program. For instance, one of my career goals is to obtain core abilities required for a Master’s of Science Degree in Nurse Anesthesia, the second is to dedicate myself to lifelong learning, and the third is to contribute back to the community. Becoming a Certified Nurse Anesthetist has always been of my interest in the wild range of specializations available for a nurse.
Nursing is a most trusted and gratifying profession. As a nurse educator, I will express my passion for teaching by incorporating features such as clinical assessments, practical application of theory, evaluation, and role modeling into advanced nursing practice, from previous experiences and current experience and clinical practicum to find success and gratification in students chosen profession as well empowering leaners to develop their own strengths, beliefs, and personal attributes to become a good professional. Personally, I do have a positive attitude towards the personal and professional growth, and value ongoing learning and will stive to instill the same into my students learnig journey .. Being a nurse is not always as easy and picture perfect as people paint it to be. A nurse is expected to act perfectly professional, even when tears, anger and all-around emotions are begging to come out. A nurse must always be the one that has their life together, especially when others do not. They are there to be the ones to hold and care for others in desperate times of need. Nurses are expected to be more than just a nurse, but rather an advocate, caregiver, support system and professional.
As a first generation student to attend college from a family of seven, the journey to a higher education has been arduous and overwhelming. My family gives me all the encouragement I need and are very optimistic about pursuing a higher degree. Unlike myself, my parents did not have the opportunity to attend college. My parents were born and raised in a small town in Mexico where the highest level of education they received was fifth grade. I have worked since I was 14 years old to support my parents with bills, and also saving for college and my own vehicle.
I was not born into the world to do everything, but I was born into the world with great intentions; intentions to make a difference, to be an outstanding leader, ambassador, and advocate to serve and give back to the society. Ever since I have known myself, I have always wanted to become a nurse. A hardship that has made me stronger is, after my first semester in the pre-nursing
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.
Reasons why nursing is my choice? This has been a long-term goal and something I have dreamed of doing since I was a little girl. In order to reach my goal, I will conduct a detailed research, including which colleges in Georgia that have Registered Nursing programs and how long each program catch to complete. My research will also contain the different wages for Registered Nurses and where the greatest demand is for Registered Nurses.
With almost 15 years of experience of working in an acute hospital has been rewarding for me and the benefit of showing empathy has further reinforced my desire to pursue a registered nurse degree . My love for children that are helpless and unable to take care of themselves especially during illness , has further stimulated my desire for becoming a registered nurse . The premature birth to my daughter , coupled with my work experience caring for the sick and needy people have solidified my desire to peruse a career in Registered Nursing even more . My clinical exposure has also allowed me to mature as a person . Even though working with the sick can be challenging at times , it is infinitely gratifying .
As a child, I dreamed of acquiring a career in Nursing. I was always fascinated by the amount of respect that nurses received during my doctor visits throughout my childhood. There are many reasons why I chose to major in Nursing such as the ability to take care of someone, the money and benefits that the career offered, as well as job stability and flexibility. On of my main reasons for pursing Nursing is the ability to care for someone other than myself.
