There is a high significance for a nursing student completing their degree in nursing to start their career as a nurse practitioner. Nursing students must prepare to become nationally certified by an accredited body upon completion of their schooling in order to advance their career (AANP, 2016). This academic accreditation process helps to show that the students have met the requirements to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in their population focus testing. The scope of practice will be affected based on the certification that the practitioner obtains. I am interested in your New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston and recently obtained my MA RN license in August 2015. I just completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and look forward to exploring nursing theory, evidence-based practice and leadership even further in the advance practice curriculum. I am pursuing family nurse practitioner because it will allow me to be more versatile in my nursing skills and serve a larger patient population. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to make a difference and help anyone in need that I possibly could. From the start of my childhood, I can recall helping my mother care for my great grandparents, so they would be able to live out the rest of their lives from their home, instead of in a nursing home. As a young child it was extremely difficult to live with and watch my loved ones deteriorate as they got older, as their condition got worse and worse, and saw my mother having a difficult time keeping up with caring for both of my great grandparents 24/7, it put a lot of stress on the family. We should acknowledge an honor the patients as a person regardless of his status in life, and not ignore them, paying attention to every details pertaining to their health. • Lifelong learning – I strongly believe that the education doesn’t end after graduation but continues even when you are in the nursing profession and working. Part of being a nurse is the application of knowledge and skills and the continuation of learning. My goal is to make it a point to stay current and updated on education by taking courses, attending seminars, trainings, obtaining certifications, as well as joining meaningful nursing organizations.
A competent nurse is knowledgeable, compassionate, holistic, ethical, a patient advocate, and integrates other disciplines in order to achieve excellence in quality patient care. I believe the road is paved with multiple opportunities for students to experience and collaborate with competent nurses. Because I believe the qualities that are characteristic of a competent nurse also are characteristic of an competent nurse educator, my teaching styles reflects my nursing practice. I believe a student 's level of commitment is influenced by my enthusiasm and passion for teaching. For me, it begins by investing my time, knowledge and experience in students.
Philosophy of Nursing Everyone’s values and beliefs about the profession of nursing are all different. The four concepts of nursing are interrelated and all mean something different to every person, too. Growing up with parents very passionate about the health care field has had a tremendous influence on my decision to pursue the health sciences. This was because of two things: my interest in helping others and my fascination with science. I was always been interested with science in grade school mostly because it interested me to see how living organisms functioned. This was especially true when it came to the human body.
