I am often told my major and dream college are simply illusions of my thoughts, but those who try to tear apart my plan forget that by powering through their words I will be able to help others, have a chance to prove that music therapy isn't a waste, and prove that anything is possible is you're willing to work towards that goal. When attending Sam Houston State University, I plan to earn my bachelor's then attend R.F. Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy: International Neurologic Music Therapy Training Institute to gain the NMT, Neurologic Music Therapist, credential, and certificate. By doing this more people will learn about music therapy and how it could become an option that they utilize in treatment. Music therapy is not discussed largely in the area I am from. When asked about my major, I am often meet with a question face and the question “What is music therapy?” I do not have an issue with explaining music therapy to others or how it works, I am delighted to inform them on what it is and how it works in certain cases because they start to consider this form of therapy as an option to help relatives or friends. Not only is my goal for more people to understand what music therapy is, another goal is to show young people that there are different careers than the common ones in their hometowns. Although not all the young people I inform about music therapy will go into the study, by notifying them about this type of therapy could open advancements to the medical world. The students could soon find other methods to aid people in their recovery or create new prevention
