Due to the constantly changing preferences of our customers, we must continue to learn about as many weapons as possible to include antique and high-end items. Some customers want the antique or high-end weapons for status while others just enjoy shooting the weapon. Like myself, some customers may enjoy the stylish look, power, feel and old memories of a certain weapon. My Remington 700 reminds me of Sniper School and my MP5 reminds me of shooting in Germany before a mission. Whatever reason a weapon owner has, some weapon owners have chosen to invest in the English Double Shotgun. Being a poor kid and wanting to learn and experience classical music from Mozart and Beethoven, I drove from Sembach Air Base in Germany to multiple European countries. One stop was Austria where I attended a few high dollar performances in a t-shirt, Wranglers and hiking trail shoes. My goal was accomplished. When learning about the English Double a Gunsmith needs to invest in one and learn as much as possible to service them. Once proficient, the money earned will pay it off as if it is a tool inside the shop. Another option is to invest in a cloned weapon from another country that is similar and cheaper. When deciding to repair the side-by-side double, know what available resources you can use. According to Coffeild (2008), Courses on doubles have been offered in the past. For many years, Jack Rowe, the oldest British-trained gunsmith in America, has taught a basic course in working on British doubles. In our profession we must seek out any class that will aid us as it will eventually pay for itself. It’s no different than going to college and some Gunsmithing programs are at a college. A copy of the English Double may be purchased from Spain and Belgium and it will allow the Gunsmith to learn about the import and export laws. Once the cloned weapon has been mastered and the correct tools purchased, the Gunsmith will be ready to repair the actual high-end English
