Identity is everything in socially medialized America. People view you based on how to present yourself when you walk into a room. People judge you based on your outside identity. Identity controls some aspects of how you interact with the world and your personal views of the world and the world reacts to you. Identity is what I am and how I present myself. I have been running cross country since 6th grade. Running cross country has/had/will have a huge impact on my life. Cross country is a very important part of my life and very helpful for my mental health. Being a cross country athlete comes with a lot of stereotypes. The biggest and most harmful is that cross country runners are gay, or homosexuals. This stereotype is very harmful for both gay people and cross country runners. Most cross country runners are not homosexuals, and the use of “gay” as an insult is very bad. have been applied to me many times. My dad is the reason I started doing cross country. He signed me up for the badger running club in 6th grade that I ran for in nationals. My father also impacted my identity by the odd sport event related jobs he finds me through his work. These experiences affected my identity and how my friends view me. My mom has affected my identity in similar ways, she(as well as my dad) taught me values, and how to be a kind person.
