Before delving into the extraordinary world that is Colombian tradition, I’ll come clean. To be frank, most of the time, I rarely act or feel Colombian. I seldom partake in traditions or customs, and when I do, (every five or so years) I am annoyed to no end with the whimsical liveliness of my people. I am not acquainted with the deranged set of customs inherent to my culture, and to put it bluntly, I have never felt the need to be. This is not to say that I hate my country, as with any other Colombian, a warm sense of pride fills my chest every time our national football team has a match, or, when traveling abroad, the thought of home will bring gentle, longing thoughts.
