Because it's still just you and me…” (Jack, Room) People say that the bond between a child and their mother is something that could never be broken no matter the circumstances, but they never show exactly how close the two can become. The award-winning movie, Room, shows you just how close the pair can get. Jack and his mother, (who’s real name is Joy) who goes by Ma, are kept together in an insanely small room for over 5 years. Another example of colorization is when Jack is inside of the cop car after they are able to pinpoint exactly where Room was and the whereabouts of Ma. Everything appears dark and blurry except for Ma when she is running towards Jack in the back seat of the car. The police lights are flashing on Ma’s face and she is the only character with any sort of color on and around her. The color that is enveloping her face is red, showing a sense of urgency that she NEEDS to get to Jack and that she is yearning for Jack in her arms. The rain and the lights casting on Ma’s face makes you sad and the scared look on her face makes you want her and Jack to be together again. The hour or so they were apart was the longest they've ever been without each other in their whole lives. The red gives off a frantic feel and you can tell Ma is only thinking about getting to Jack in the moment with the red urgent flashing lights. Dirt and grime engulf the whole room and there is the absolute minimum of utilities and yet the two are still able to laugh and have fun together.
