In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, I deduce that the male characters have made the most dramatic influence to its readers, thus far, in Acts I and II. In my perspective, the men bestow their standpoints profoundly and they are the initiators of numerous quarrels, which impacts the plot by amplifying suspense. To begin, Romeo commences conflict overall, by having the audacity to love the daughter of his sole enemy. "My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself, Because it is an enemy to thee. Had I it written, I would tear the word"(1024).
Odysseus, just like the woman, has to live with the losses and the suffering of the war, while his dead comrades, like the widow’s husband, do not. In this instance, the woman is representative of all the women in the Trojan War who lost their husbands due to Odysseus’ wrath. He does not cry for his own glory, but rather he empathizes with the widow, and therefore, identifies with all of his victims. Alcinous, through this similarity between Odysseus’ tears and the tears of the female victims of war, is able to see that Odysseus’ connection to the Trojan War is one filled with the pain of losses and guilt, but also the pain of having to carry these memories. These two aspects of pain can only coexist in a person if his identity is the Odysseus being portrayed in these songs.

The two stories “The Most Dangerous Game” and “Porphyria’s Lover”, both portray the characters, General Zaroff and Porphyria’s Lover, as murderers who think they have done nothing wrong.
A quality all humans possess is questioning leadership. The reasons why we challenge or rebel against our leaders describe what kind of individual we are. Cassius and Brutus have different reasons for questioning Caesars power. Both characters have a common goal but exceedingly different values, thought process, and motives for killing Caesar. Cassius and Brutus are characters who have opposite values.

To lead means to “be in charge or command of”. To run a large city like Rome, the citizens need someone like Brutus to “take charge” or “command”. To be a good leader means to have courage, integrity, and kindness. Brutus was the most pleasing leader of all the men. He showed great acts of leadership throughout the duration of his life and thought of others rather than himself.

Had he been born 100 years prior this work would have most likely looked entirely different. This work, as it contains qualities characteristic of a High Renaissance work, embraces the humanistic spirit in a unique fashion as Lucretia is at the moment right before her own death. A common motif in Renaissance works was to focus on the moment right before in capturing all of the emotion in the figure face the moment before something occurs. Sophocles’ Electra is a well-known Greek tragedy, set place at Mycenae after the Trojan wars. In the tragedy Electra plays one of the most important roles among the Chorus. The Chorus often sympathises with Electra and also helps the reader (or the audience considering it was written as a play) to understand the events better. The Chorus shares emotions with Electra, such as her grief and frustration, or her joy upon the return of Osteres. The trauma she experienced as a slave made her justifiably determined to not let her children return to slavery, but her panicked actions resulted in her isolation the community. As her isolation is caused by herself rather than an external force such as slavery, she is a fitting model for a Greek tragedy protagonist. Sethe’s “thick love” continues to linger after the killing, as she says she wanted to die alongside her youngest child after she killed her so she can continue to take care of her daughter, and states “[Beloved] is mine” after her realization that Beloved is her daughter (Morrison 241).
