Today's educators are incorporating more and more digital technology, blended learning and 21st century skills into their lesson plans to increases student engagement and personalize learning. These creative strategies require good, strong, reliable internet connections. However, many students do not have internet access outside of school. This means that this type of learning cannot continue once students leave the school yard. This is a problem for schools and communities. Given the importance of technology skills in the workforce and college, school districts must examine options for ensuring that students have connectivity to online learning materials regardless of their location or socioeconomic status.
IMPORTANCE OF eLEARNING
According to the 2014 report, Future Ready Schools: Building Technology Infrastructure for Learning, by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology, this strategy, called eLearning, has many benefits.
