Addison said that the community college experience is more critical to the nation than that of former beatnik types who, lest we forget, did not change the world. When it comes to community colleges, you can get the same work as you can get at a four-year college. A lot of people believe the transition is smoother because the college campuses are not as big as a community college. It will make people feel like they are still in high school because of how small the campus is, and it makes people feel more comfortable. Community college students are more likely to be racial and ethnic minorities, economically disadvantaged, first-generation student, and immigrants compared to students at four-year

Community College is a new beginning for everyone that enrolls. The access to college allows them to broaden their minds, discover their passions, and push themselves forward. Community college opens doors for their students that they would never have believed that they were there before. It gives the students a chance to explore and see what they are truly wanting to do with their lives. Addison writes, “Just follow any one of the 1,655 road signs, and pop your head inside - yes, they let anyone in – and there you will find discoveries of a first independent film, a first independent thought, a first independent study.
Throughout my college career, I have been engaged civically through community service at various organizations such as Mentoring Majesties, Fannie Battle Day Home for Children, and Preston Taylor Ministries performing more than 200 hours of service. In addition to my college and community involvement, I have made advances in my future career to be a healthcare administrator by being selected to participate in the Community Partners Internship through Hospital Corporation of America. Recently, I have been invited back to the internship to participate in a new project that targets behavioral health and access to
I have been able to work side-by-side with a Pathologists ' Assistant since day one and because of this, I fully understand their role in the medical society. I owe a lot of what I learned as a grossing technician to them because of their guidance, input, and examples. The more I asked them questions and the more I watched them work, the more captivated I became by their role and realized I wanted to be in their position. As a result, I believe that my close working relationship with the Pathologists ' and Pathologists ' Assistants, as well as the exposure and knowledge I have gained by working in the department will help me succeed, particularly in Loma Linda University 's Pathologists ' Assistant program. Loma Linda University is a good fit for me a few reasons.
I currently am a junior Nursing major and Psychology minor at the illustrious Winston Salem State University. My choice to attend a HBCU has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my twenty one years of life. It brings my heart so much pleasure in all thing that I do at my HBCU. Deciding to enroll at a HBCU is something much bigger than myself. I am my ancestor’s wildest dreams
After reflecting on all that you have learned in this course, share what you believe is one current trend in the human services field in meeting the needs of individuals, families, and/or the community. Picture it: the friendly resident assistant helping her resident when she has a tough problem. Maybe the resident is locked out of her dorm, or is having roommate struggles, or even just has general stress with school work. I would like to be that resident assistant helping that girl, and I feel that I could fill this potential position. Working as a Resident Assistant has many benefits and potential positive outcomes. Some of these include the ability to meet new people as well as getting to know them better, being a mentor to residents, and learning from the people you are mentoring or meeting.
The purpose of my ignite speech is to persuade current SMSU students to become a Resident Assistant. My target audience is SMSU students that have lived on campus for at least one semester. Reflecting on the past seven weeks I have acquired countless knowledge, which I will use to further strengthen my profession as an Advanced Practice Nurse. The course allowed me to think beyond my current practice knowledge and acquired innovative ways to evaluate the situation at hand. The learning objective in program outcome four helps set standards that I will use to guide my clinical practice to meet various healthcare needs. Using the case studies has helped to further enhance my knowledge on disease physiological state, using differential diagnosis, disease manifestations, and clinical presentation. It has also taught me the skills on how to differentiate between similar diagnoses to properly identify the problem and treat the patients.
I learned a lot about the different organizations offered to pre-Occupational Therapy students and students who are in the program. I only knew about one program but was not aware of the different positions I could apply for. Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) and Phi Theta Epsilon (PTE) are both organizations I would like get involved with. I now know that I am able to join SOTA as a pre- Occupational Therapy student, but I still wonder what grade point average PTE considers for their organization. Do they look at your grade point average prior to the program or your first semester in the program?
Client-centered therapy is unique in that it makes me feel connected to my clients on a person-to-person basis. This form of therapy places me in a conflict between my values and emotions. As a therapist, I would need to separate my client 's behavior from their persona, and I would need to address them as an individual not defined by their actions. From my perspective, it would be difficult to display unconditional positive regard to a client that has committed many harmful and violent crimes. I do like certain aspects of client-centered therapy and one day
Over the semester I have learned many new aspects of social work that have helped deepen my understanding of what social work is really about. This course has taught me things that will help me become a better person and will also help me with my future working with children. My beliefs and values would be beneficial for being a social worker because I have a caring no judgment, personality that allows me to be a neutral and to listen to people.
