The two story lines between the movie “13 Hours: Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” and the novel “Lord of the Flies” both share similar plot characteristics such as survival and bravery. The main characters are put into unpredictable situations throughout the story and are forced to overcome the conflicts given the circumstance and fix the situation by working with each other and figuring out ways to survive. In the events of the movie “13 Hours: Secret Soldiers of Benghazi”, 6 ex-military soldiers are sent out to Benghazi, Libya to provide protection for a secret CIA diplomatic outpost called “Annex”. 17Feb surrender their posts as they are out numbered by the group and the attackers invade the main compound and start burning the building where the Ambassador is currently within. The soldiers within the other compound one mile away cannot help them as they have no authority from their primary commander back in the US headquarters. They are forced to stand-down, however, they are eventually dispatched and sent out to reinforce the other soldiers with support, unfortunately, the ambassador died in the process as they were coming to save him. The soldiers retreated back to their home base as they have been alerted by 17Feb that the attacks are regrouping and coming back for the second compound. The commander in chief tried calling other military bases around the country to come help them but no one was available. The attackers attempted to infiltrate their base but the soldiers were able to fight them off by spreading out above the rooftops of the buildings and using guns to hold off the attackers. The group of boys are then stranded on the island with no civilization other than themselves and need to somehow figure out a way survive until they get rescued. The boys quickly organize themselves as they choose Ralph to be the leader of the island because they think he is suitable for that position and look up to him as a role model. Jack, upset about the fact he was not chosen to be leader, Ralph makes him the header chief for the group of hunters so there aren’t any complications between them. As the boys slowly progress through the island, they discuss what they should do next. Ralph comes up with an idea that they make a signal fire on top of the mountain so that any ships or planes passing by can see their signal and attract them to the island. As the boys start the fire, they agree that the group of hunters are responsible for sustaining the fire. Later on, the boys are out in the jungle hunting for pigs meanwhile a ship was passing by but the fire was out. Ralph got really upset with Jack as he cared more about hunting than being rescued.
