The hero's journey is identical for all heroes traveling the path of becoming a true hero. In order for a hero to complete the cycle of the hero's journey, the hero must follow Joseph Campbell's crucial stages of the ordinary world all the way to the return with elixir. Both George Lucas and Herman Hesse stories contrast greatly, but they create the ideal hero in their stories, due to their tremendous work on following the hero's journey for their main protagonist, Siddhartha and Luke Skywalker. These helpers are Uncle Owen and Obi-Wan for Luke Skywalker, and Kamala and Vasudeva for Siddhartha. All these helpers helping the hero have one specific thing in common which is, guidance for the hero. The first helper for Luke the audience spectates is, Uncle Owen. Uncle Owen, the guardian of Luke, guides and gives Luke advice as if he was his own father. Down the line of Luke's journey, the audience views an even more significant helper, Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan is essential to Luke Skywalker's journey, because without Obi-Wan Luke Skywalker may have not learned about his ability in the force. Since of Obi-Wan's telling of the force to Luke, Luke was inspired to learn more about his abilities in the force and to take down the dark side. On the Siddhartha's side, the reader reads about one of the first mentors Siddhartha has, Kamala. Kamala, becoming attached to Siddhartha, teaches and guides Siddhartha the art of love. Another guide for Siddhartha is Vasudeva. Vasudeva, the humble ferryman, invites Siddhartha to listen to the river and teaches him about the river. The two hero's helpers truly show their guidance by guiding their hero through the hero's
