In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction, is the first and only objective of good government”. The government of different countries differ considerably depending on who gets the power. There are many types of government : monarchy ( absolute & constitutional ) , democracy , oligarchy , authoritarianism and totalitarianism . Here we discuss the comparison of absolute monarchy and democracy. Both absolute monarchs and elected democratic leaders act as the top representatives of their country and take important decisions. Both governments are institutions of authority and are charged with responsibilities of managing their citizens .The main difference differentiating monarchy and democracy are their leadership , power , law and freedom. …show more content…

The people have the right to choose their leaders through election , whom they want to rule their government. Since the ruling leaders are selected by people through election, leaders feel an obligation & social responsibility towards their citizens . Due to the fact that elected leaders are bound to face an election after a certain tenure period, democracy prevents monopoly of ruling leaders. Leaders will do their best for the people, if not, they may not remain in power after their tenure ends. On the other hand , in absolute monarchy , the government system is led by a single monarch who generally rules the country until death and are not chosen or elected by the people of the country. Even after the death the power stays within the same family. The people do not have the power to remove monarch from leadership, even if the monarch is not ruling the country according to the will of the majority of the citizens. A monarch is aware that he or she is not accountable to anyone, which can lead to economic disruption. An incompetent monarch can bring a downfall to his
