Beowulf is a classic Anglo Saxon poem about heroism. In fact one scholar notes, “Legends and superheros present us with something very local in its ethics. It's not messianic. It's far more tangible” (Rhys Ifans). Beowulf is considered a legend in the English Literature world. Batman is considered a superhero in the DC Comic industry. However, even though they’re from different times and put in different situations, they have as much in common as they have different, especially in courage, smartness and the willing to fight evil.

Beowulf displayed first displayed his courage when he went to Danish to help King Hrothgar and his village. The kings village was being tormented by Grendel. Grendel is a demon that descends from the Christianity figure, Cain, Adam’s evil son. Such as courage, smartness, and the willingness to fight evil. Beowulf different from Batman as he had superhuman strength, but they both had courage to fight anyone. Batman was smart enough to build a suit that would help him fight evil, as he had no superhuman strength like Beowulf. Beowulf was smart enough to have tactics to defeat the villains he had to fight, such as ripping Grendel's arm off so he could bleed out or grabbing the non human made sword to beat Grendel's mother. The willingness to fight evil was evident in both of them even though they came from different eras they had the same warrior like values. Batman didn't have the same superhuman strength as Beowulf but that didn't stop him from saving Gotham from evil as Beowulf had superhuman strength to save Danish from the demons and his own village from the dragon. Batman and Beowulf differed in a lot but they both were similar in courage, smartness, and a willingness to fight
