Benjamin Franklin and Patrick Henry were two important people in American History who made a difference. Franklin’s “Speech in the Convention and Henry’s “Speech in the Virginia Convention” helped guide our nation to independence and democracy. Both speeches have good examples of rhetorical devices, but I think Patrick Henry speech ‘Speech in the Virginia Convention” has better rhetorical devices. It is a common belief among the American people that the Revolution was a war that happened from 1775 to 1783, yet neither John Adams nor Benjamin Rush would agree with that statement. That is where their agreement ends, seeing as the most notable difference between President Adams' understanding of the revolution and Benjamin Rush's view is when the revolution ended. According to Adam, the American Revolution ended before the first drop of blood was shed at Lexington. This is in stark contrast to Benjamin Rush’s view that the revolution lasted many years after the war. In fact, he chronicles the hardships they face on their way to Plymouth, yet he includes God’s provision every step of the way.

He thought that the government of a monarchy was better than democracy because he had no doubt that they were naturally wicked and were not to be trusted to govern. He believed that it was better to have a governor like a king that would know how to act like a leader and rule a country.

Final exam Earlier in the semester we were introduced to John De Crevecoeur’s letters from an American Farmer and Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography. The two books both had strong opinions about what American and what the “New Man” was in American during the 18th century. In the 18th century Benjamin franklin was the man who invented the American dream for many people. His Dream was that through hard work and honesty any man can gain respect in the community; along with deserving prosperity and economic protection. he also believed that American was a place where you could come and have a new start.
Franklin was known for creating many things that we still use today, and we will continue uses for many years to come. Inventions that we still use today would be the lightning rod, street lighting, odometer, Bifocal glasses, and the discovery of Daylight Saving Time. Franklin invented the lightning rod to protect the building from lightning; Franklin believed this was the most important inventions. With street lighting, he only improved it by using the scientific method to help improve the quality of light. As he describe it in his Autobiography, "I, therefore, suggested composing them of four flat panes, with a long funnel above to draw up the smoke, and crevices admitting air below, to facilitate the ascent of the smoke; by this means they were kept clean, and did not grow dark in a few hours, as the London lamps do, but continu'd bright till morning."

Benjamin Franklin is an archetypal American because of his values of self-improvement, community-mindedness, and frugality.
There were a lot of American men who had perfect influence on people’s mind of American society.
