The Burma-Shave and the Dollar Shave Club are both similar historically because they both use comedic adverts to spread the message across to their audience. The major difference is that the Burma-Shave used road signs to advert because by then the roads were not that free for cars to speed up. While the Dollar Shave club uses the social media, (Youtube, etc) to pass their message to their audience. The Burma-Shave uses highway road signs advertising method to get their message across. In the days before late 1950’s, the interstate system was not conducive for vehicles to speed. Therefore, the moto riders and vehicles were able to read through the little funny poem punch lines as they drive along. The Dollar Shave Club, like the Burma-Shave, utilizes the best medium of the season to get their message across. They use the comic videos to pass their message across. However, the Burma-Shave Campaign, to me, was the most groundbreaking, because it was the talk of the town back then. It also was entertaining to drivers and motorcycle riders. Though it was an advert and of course poems, yet it still sends out warning messages to drivers in a funny way while they advertise their business in the end. A perfect example will be, “Don’t stick your elbow out too far it might go in another car -Burma-Shave” Also, Burma-Shave break grounds and were everywhere at the same time. Moreso, Burman-Shave is visible to everyone who drives along the interstates where the road signs are installed, while not everyone who visits youtube has seen the Dollar Shave Club youtube video, including me who is only seeing it now for school
