There are many big downfalls of controversial figures in America. One being Shane Dawson, a famous youtuber and podcast maker. Shane has been accused of many things due to his past content such as blackface, racial slurs, inappropriate comments about children, sexually abusing animals, and many other things. The downfall of a controversial figure can also be seen in Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, in which Brutus experiences a downfall from power when he kills Caesar, gains followers and then loses it just as quickly. Shane Dawson was the one of the first people to find fame via the social media platform and was crowned as the King of Youtube. Dawson also made videos of racial slurs, saying the N word, blackface and many other things making his fame plummet even further than it already had, if possible. Dawson was once accused of using the beauty world as a cash grab by making the makeup with Star, making millions and then trashing the relationship. Dawon also goes to say he shouldn't have used the N word and he should have lost his career to begin with. He points out that he understands that an apology won't fix anything and he thought he was just a white guy that could get away with anything. This connects to the Tragedy of Julius Caesar because, just like Shane, Brutus also had a huge downfall from power. Both Shane and Brutus started their life well. He went from well liked by many to dead because not many people trusted or liked him for killing Caesar. This downfall of a controversial figure connects to the downfall of Shane Dawson. Shane had a huge downfall from the king of youtube and at the same time Brutus had a huge downfall from wanting to be king and ending up dead instead. They are so alike in this way because they were both power hungry and all they cared about was themselves and who they could get to like them or be on their side. All Shane wanted was for more followers on his youtube channel and podcast, while Brutus wanted people to believe he was the good guy and he killed Caesar for them and the good of Rome.
