The movie To Kill A Mockingbird directed by Robert Mulligan, is a great movie based off the book To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. The movie portrays the story of Scout Finch and her family in the 1930’s while Scouts father (Atticus Finch) is defending a negro (Tom Robinson) in a court case. This story takes in Maycomb, Alabama during a very racist time. The beginning of the story starts with Atticus being asked to represent Tom in court for his accusations of rape against Mayella Ewell. Throughout the story Scout and her brother Jim cause all kinds right of mischief but become very interested in their father's court case. A major part of the movie takes part during the court scene where everyone has a fair chance to speak, and the evidence shows Tom is innocent. The jury still decides Tom is guilty due to the idea of a white woman being guilty to a black man is ridiculous. The end of the story is quite a sad ending as Tom ends up dead and so does Mayella's father. In to kill a mockingbird the characters Tom, and Calpurnia are realistic. …show more content…

There is also a black community in this story which we see at the court scenes supporting Tom. This story is located in a very racist time where black people weren't looked at the same as white people. All though some black people had it better then others it seemed. In this story Calpurnia is a maid for the Finch family, she was very respected despite some of Scout’s moments. Calpurnia also very much cares about the children too.
