In this week 's reading, the texts that stood out to me would have to be the article “In Defense of Literary Adaptation and Cultural Production” and the X-files Frankenstein adaptation “The Postmodern Prometheus”. The latter being the first X-Files episode I ever watched, suffice to say it was an interesting adaptation. Being a sociology major, after watching the episode and then reading the article I genuinely became intrigued with literary interpretation through generations. As I’ve learned in previous classroom settings storytelling was brought to life for multiple reasons. One difference which really stood out to me would have been the scene in which Dr. Polidori leaves and his wife despite the agent 's efforts is ultimately artificially inseminated. An exceptionally different outcome as opposed to original Elizabeth whom on her wedding night was killed when left alone by her husband. Also the method in which she was impregnated was a major modern twist which left me confused on whether or not she was raped. But the kicker to me is the elation of being pregnant despite the method in which she was impregnated. A reaction that said a lot in itself by incorporating thoughts on the moral rights and wrongs of artificial insemination as well as the popular outlook that every woman has that primanal need to reproduce before their biological clock stops ticking. Overall, I was given a lot to think about after reading and watching this week 's texts and once again given a differ outlook on what is means to adapt a text. Prompting me to really consider the meaning behind the quote on page two that states “no story comes from nowhere; new stories are born of
