Though both men were family men and stood strongly by their families and principles, Mahatma Gandhi and Osama Bin Laden were polar opposites. Osama Bin Laden and Mahatma Gandhi each had a polar opposite outlook and purpose for their respective lives. Gandhi was for the non-violent society. Meanwhile, Bin Laden insisted for Muslims to unleash violent jihad amongst everyone and anyone who did not believe in the Muslim faith. Even with extreme differences, these two men were both politically driven, religious, and relentless in their missions; one of them being extremely violent and the other, a gentle, shy activist who thought the world would do better without war and violence. Although their intents were different, they both were religiously and politically driven. Unlike Gandhi, Bin Laden is not looking to gain independence from another country, but rather his goal was to emancipate the Arab Muslims from the injustices of America and its allies and do away with the corruptness he felt was going on in parts of the world, which he felt the West was largely responsible for. Most notably, U.S’s involvement of Israel in Palestine. Not only did Osama want to go to war with the West and their allies, but he felt that he should wage jihad even against Muslims who did not practice the religion the way he did. It is because Osama had not one goal set in stone and plenty of enemies that failure doomed around the corner. Gandhi on the other hand, was more focused and for the good hearted. The amount of support Gandhi had was because he was always trying to do the right thing. Gandhi was kind-hearted, always looking for the best interest of the people.
