We all hate commercials. They are annoying and seem irrelevant to us. They interrupt us while were watching our favorite shows and there 's no way around not watching them. What many people don’t notice is the purpose of commercials. Usually the storyline of a commercial is not very related to the product being sold. Instead companies use things viewers can relate to causing them to want the product. The thought put into simple commercials is outstanding. They use elements to evoke emotions out of people. For example, Apple and Microsoft compete with each other using similar elements through their Mac and PC commercials. By using similar techniques, both Mac and PC try to persuade young adults to purchase their product and show which one is better.

In comparison to the Mac commercial, the PC uses different techniques and they make their commercial more holiday-like. In general the two computers are shown next to each other and they are assisted by hands. There are two voices that talk to each other about the product throughout the commercial. The last shot is always a blue background with the product shown. The ‘Surface Pro Winter Wonderland’ commercial is similar but with a nice holiday twist. Instead of the two people talking, it’s a ladies voice (as the PC) and a man’s monotone voice (as the Mac) singing a song comparing the two computers with the ‘Winter Wonderland’ jingle. The tablets keyboard is red and there is a pug dog dressed as a reindeer with a winter wonderland-like background. The person writes on the tablet in red too. Finally, the commercial ends with the same blue background and phrase “The tablet that can replace your laptop” assisted with snowflakes.
