Some people would say that, “learning to read is easy”. That reading and writing and everything that has to do with the English language or any language isn't such a hard task to complete . Learning English isn’t always easy to accomplish and that there are people who have it even hard to achieve such a feat . I think learning your language is an essential part of your life. It opens doors too the next stage in your life above poverty. I was able to complete this article thanks to the help of: Malcolm and Alex Haley X Homemade Education, Helen Keller A Word For Everything, Jimmy Santiago Coming into Language, and Gareth Cook Living with Dyslexia well help us get in more dept with learning how other people conquered the language challenge. In “Homemade Education” Malcolm X claims that the average hustler and criminal was too uneducated to write a letter in his youth. Can you imagine how that would be like in his society or in society today? To have a hard time communicating information and or receiving information. Privately, they would get someone else to read a letter if they received one

So he needed to come up with a solution for his problem. He turned to the dictionary. (Malcolm 10). Another difference between me and Malcolm X studying is that Malcolm learned mainly threw the dictionary. I learned threw everyday classes. Sure I had my fair share of time in the dictionary but It was only a little. His view broadened with the the progression of his vocabulary. I couldn’t imagine not being able to read and write throughout long periods of time. Jimmy Santiago (Coming into Language) said that,” At seventeen I still didn’t know how to read (Jimmy Santiago 3). I couldn't imagine being ten and not knowing how to read let alone seventeen. That's like learning to tie your shoes at eighteen. At that age he also couldn’t answer general questions.
