Compare And Contrast Martin Luther King Jr And Malcolm X

During the civil rights movement in the 1960’s two amazing leaders appeared armed with ideas, hopes, and desires that will change the way of life for an African America. The two men were Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Both wanted the same price but they had different means in getting that same price. Although both men had some amazing and truthful points, only one was the most convincing to me. The most convincing to me was Dr. King. Dr. King was convincing to me because of the way he talked to the people, and thought them to lead a nonviolent civil rights movement. He not only just thought the people, but he also practiced the same method. He did not support violence of any sort. I love the way he tells the people that only death and destruction comes out of violence. “In violent warfare, one must be prepared to face ruthlessly the fact that there will be casualties by the thousands” (Dr. King). What Dr. King stands for makes sense and people can trust him and rely on him because he also takes their life and safety into consideration. Luther wants people to use their morals when trying to achieve something, and it looks like he is correct because the people were getting results and they did not use violence at all. He also wanted people to retain from using self-defense because it only encouraged people to attack them. “In a nonviolent demonstration, self-defense must be approached from quite another perspective. One must remember that the cause of the demonstration is some exploitation or form of oppression that has made it necessary for men of courage and good will to demonstrate against evil.” (Dr. King). Unlike Malcolm X who wants people to fight back and is also encouraging people to fight back, “But when you drop that violence on me, then you’ve made me go insane, and I’m not responsible for what I do.
