Psychopath vs. Sociopath Psychopaths and Sociopaths are two personality disorders that people often get confused. People diagnosed with the personality disorders are often seen as “crazy” and are never given any second thought about what actually makes them a Psychopath or Sociopath. Although the two disorders seem to be the same because of their violent behaviors, they are actually very different when you look at the way they think and how they became the way they are. Sociopaths will usually show early signs of a personality disorder. As children the most common sign is aggression and neglect to animals. In elementary school and junior high they will start to show aggression to students, teachers, and any person of authority. They will often cause trouble in school and will not get good grades. Psychopaths usually do not show the same signs a sociopaths in their adolescent years. Some Psychopaths may cause some trouble, but it is often seen as a “stage” of life and is believed to grow out of it. …show more content…

Their lack of emotional intelligence compels them to partake in criminal behavior, and causes them to believe that their behavior is acceptable. Sociopaths are fully developed mentally, but have been brought up in a bad environment. People who have a background of abuse, poverty, or rejection, can develop into a sociopath, if their biological nature allows them to do so. Psychologists often use the phrase, “Nature vs, Nurture”to try and explain the differences in the two personality disorders. Psychopaths would be in the “Nature” category, because their behavior comes from their biological nature. Sociopaths would be in the “Nurture” category, because their behavior comes from the environment they grew up
