In Blows story he talks about his love for books, and how it saved his life. Sherman Alexie does the same thing in “Superman and Me”. They share their own stories and the books that saved them. They tell us how their families played a part of what they became. We also learn how their childhood was and how the books were introduced to them at a young age. The main thing that we notice is Books, and how they saved both of their lives in almost the same way.

In sherman Alexie’s text “Superman and Me” he starts off telling us how he learned to read, which was with a superman comic book. Frm there he takes us with him as he grows up. We learn how him and his family lived, and what him and his dad loved the most, besides each other. We learn that books were what he cherish the most. “My father loved books, and since I loved my father with an aching devotion, I decided to love books as well.” we saw the connection he had with his father, and how it lead to his love for books. …show more content…

He got what he could, and didn’t complain. The small money that his mother made she gave to her kids to buy toys in the store. As his brothers ran for the toy isle, blow was stopped by books. After his first experience with a book he feel in love with them. “It is no exaggeration to say that those books saved me: from a life of poverty, stress, depression and isolation.” He says how books saved him from a life of “poverty, stress, depression and
