Revolution vs. Civil Emileigh Parker Coach Sullivan U.S. History 1 (6th) April 21, 2023 The Civil War was not the second revolution. Unlike the Civil War the American Revolution wasn’t fought for independence. The American Revolution was fought mainly in the northern part of the country while the Civil War was fought in the south. A revolution is a forced overthrow of the government for a new government or system, but a civil war is usually a war between citizens in the same country. Although both conflicts resulted in independence; only the South in the Civil War were truly fighting for independence. The Civil War was mainly fought in the southern part of the country while the American Revolution was fought in the northern territories.
