Sparta is a great city-state to live in. Spartans focus on military and have a great form of government. Oligarchy is the form of government Spartans used, wich means ruled by few. Sparta’s military was very strong, when Spartan boys were to the age of seven they were sent to military training, since the Spartans started training so early when men were at the age of thirty they could join the professional army. Sparta was ruled by an oligarchy because it seemed to work better than previous forms of government the Spartans used.
In this new type of government
The United States Government is a government formed and influenced off of other successful governments, the Roman Republic being one of them. While the Roman Republic and our current United States Government have many similarities, they also have many differences. One example of a similarity is how the government was divided. Just like the Roman government, the United States government is divided into three parts: the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. Even though they were not called these names in Rome, they are almost the same thing.

In Ancient Greece, Sparta, had laws that when you were born you were to be examined for any defects. If you had any you were to be thrown down in a valley to die, and if you were the first born male of your family you were put in a military camp to be trained for further uses. This took away their human rights on living free if you are a man, and if you are a woman you were to stay in the town and be a “house-wife.” The Spartan government wanted to make the city a stronger unit by taking away job choices. The Spartan government was a great government because, they trained young boys to be warriors, their population couldn’t have any flaws, and the people didn’t have a choice in job.
Geographical variations between the two countries demonstrates the need for two very different systems of government. One is able to deduce from a visual perspective, that Greece is much
The definition of justice is “just behavior or treatment”, a synonym would be “fairness” or “equity”. Although this is the definition of justice, these words do not come to mind in many serial killer cases. Some cases, such as the Ted Bundy, Lamar Johnson, and the Zodiac killer, the victims never received equity or fairness due to the hints waisted and unsolved suspects. In the 1970s women were being murdered from college campuses in many states.
Throughout history, there has been many battles in which two large and powerful empires fought to maintain land, fought over religion, or to gain an abundance of resources. These empires, the Greek and the Persian, were hostile towards each other at the time. Although these empires were quite similar, they were near direct opposites at the time.
The Romans had a system of indirect democracy where the people had the power to vote for representatives who would advocate for them on the state level. The Greeks had a government in which the people directly were involved in the governmental and legislative process. In addition, both systems were flawed in their representation of their people in their respective governments through neglecting a large portion of their population. Both societies did well to create term lengths to decrease the likelihood of corruption and abuse of power through creating accountability. However, the Greek democracy was a caliber above its counterpart.
The geography of Greece influenced the development of ancient Greek government and politics. When describing ancient Greece, “mountainous land” is the phrase one would use because Greece is made up of many mountains. Because of the mountains, it was difficult to commute from place to place. As a result of that, instead of Greece being ruled by one government, it formed many different poleis, which each had their own government Polis is the Greek word for independent city-states. Greeks had a strong connection with their polis, and they strongly identified with them.
in the more advanced areas of Greece, economically and socially speaking” (“Greek Administration”, 1988). The polis was a way of the Greeks finding a way to organize themselves into a society, becoming more civilized. According to Greek Administration, “In its fundamental essence it was never conceived as an extent of territory, although its boundaries could be drawn on a map, but rather as a group of citizens feeling themselves bound together under the rule of law” (“Greek Administration, 1988). In terms that are more familiar to the way we teach history today in our society, the polis is what we would call a city-state, each individual polis being its own city-state, acting almost like a small country. According to Nardo, “Although all Greeks, the residents of the various poleis developed differing local governments and customs as well as different forms of currency” (Nardo, 2007).
The Greeks displayed their humanistic values through government by they utilizing an effective system of self governing. This system was a direct democracy, defined as “government by the people” or “rule of the majority.” In the Athenian Democracy, the Assembly was the regular
The government plays a major role in any civilization. The Greeks had several different types of government: Monarchy, Aristocracy, Oligarchy, and Democracy. The Democratic Government is the type of government, which mainly influenced our modern civilization. Democratic Government simply means the citizens have the power, which is the type of government here in the United States of America.
In order to compare and contrast varying types of government within two or more countries, one must have a clear definition of Government and know the purposes it serves. Therefore, I did some research and I have established that Government is a group that exercises dominant power over a nation, state, society or other body of people. Governments are commonly responsible for constructing and implementing laws, handling money, and defending the general population from external threats, and may have other obligations or privileges. All over the world, there are many different types of government within countries. Each kind has its advantages as well as disadvantages regarding the general well-being of its peoples and economy.
