Book VS Film
People frequently write or produce films about the Holocaust. So which one had the greatest impact on me? A story told from the viewpoint of a little girl at a time of war, or a
moving film portraying their experiences underground. The book "The Girl in the Green
Sweater" was, in my opinion, a much more effective method of understanding what the Jews in
Lvov went through during the Second World War. While the movie is excellent, it doesn't go into
as much detail as the book. The author is the young girl from the book herself, which makes it
more interesting because it's a child's point of view on this story. And finally, the shift of focus
between Mr. Chiger and the pirate which influenced me differently. These

In the book, for example,
the attention is more on the Chiger family. It describes their experience during the war and their
story. We see how their lives change over time. Originally, they were a wealthy family with
nannies for their children and a very successful shop. And then we see how much their lives
change when they get to the Ghetto, and then eventually to spending 14 months living beneath
the streets, surrounded by rats and other life-threatening situations. The details in the book
made me begin to picture it in my head, and I felt like I learnt and understood it much more than
when we watched the movie. Krystyna describes her experience in the sewers in the book, but
in the movie they take that away and focus more on everyone else. They focus more on the love
story between the Pirate and Klara and less on the Chigers. They show how he risked his life by
leaving the sewer to search for Klara's missing sister and they show them beginning to fall in
love. They shifted the attention from being less about family, and more about love. And I feel

For these three reasons and more, I personally think that the book “the Girl in the Green Sweater” was a more effective way or learning about the Holocaust than the movie. The book
tells us the stories of most Jews in Lvov at the time of the World War. And how all the Jews who
weren't exiled had to go as low as to seeking refuge in the city's sewer system and living in
those conditions for over a year. The movie, “In Darkness” is a great movie, but the tremendous
lack of detail in the film prevents the viewer from truly understanding the characters' suffering.
But when you read the book you understand how they felt and what they went through. And I
believe you can learn more effectively by reading the book because of various reasons. Theres
the story's attention to detail, the author's point of view, and the shift in focus from a family to a
couple. This is overall a really great and moving book. Which without it and many others like it,
the world would not be aware of the exact suffering that the Nazis put innocent people through
those long years. So to anyone wanting to learn more about the suffering inflicted on people
during the Holocaust, I would recommend this
