Both the movie and the book take place in the same place, Pennsylvania and same time period. Mr. Harvey is acting out of the ordinary and hiding in a corn field stalking the neighborhood kids, which one day he sees Susie and invites her over to see his secret hiding place in the middle of one. In both, the movie and the book, Jack suspects something of Mr. Harvey due to the fact that he is always acting strange or doing unordinary things when they see each other around. Detective Len Fenerman tries to be helpful in both but never realizes the killer has always been closer than expected. In the movie Susieś elbow was never found, as stated in the book that it fell out of the body bag that Mr. Harvey had put her body in after he killed and chopped her up into pieces. The book was very descriptive about what specifics Harvey did but in the movie none of that was talked about, just skipped through. A keystone was kept in the book by Harvey, in the movie it is a little house charm. Towards the end of the story, an icicle hits Harvey on the head and that is how he dies in the book. If they were to be rated on a scale of 1-10, the book would be about a 7.5 and the movie maybe a 5.5. The movie was not as intriguing as the book. The book catches ones attention by specifying what goes on very clearly and getting straight to the point, not providing any unnecessary information. Let´s just make this short, simple, and to the point, if you watched the movie you would probably not want to read the book since it did not catch enough of ones attention to be interested. On the other hand, if you read the book first and afterwards watch the movie you probably will not appreciate the movie as much as you did the
