In “The Iroquois Creation Story” by David Cusick, two worlds exist as in the Christian Creation Story. The lower world inhabited by monsters and darkness, and the upper world inhabited by man. At the beginning the Iroquois story states, “there were two worlds in existence, the lower world and the upper world” (Cusick 23). The same is true in the Christian Creation Story. The Bible states in Genesis 1:1-31, “ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. The two stories both have worlds above and below. Another similarity is that both the Iroquois Creation Story and The Christian Creation Story both have a woman bringer that births children. The Iroquois Creation Story states that, “there was a woman conceived and would have the twin born”(Cusick 23). The Bible States in Genesis 25:24, “And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb”. This similarity relates to Eve when she gives birth to her two children Cain (the bad one), and Abel (the good one). Cain and Abel also bring another similarity of the Iroquois Creation Story where one twin was good and the other was bad. The story states that, “one of them possessed with gentle disposition, and was named Enigorio, the good mind. The other youth possessed an insolence of character, and was named Enigonhahethea, the bad mind” (Cusick
