The third book I have chosen for my research is 'The Sound of the Sea', written by Jacqueline Harvey and illustrated by Warren Crossett. This is another book where death is a central theme. This book differs from my other two books in the way it explores the death of a parent from a child's point of view, where the other two books looked at the death of an animal. This picturebook is a moving story that explores the relationship between a young boy, Samuel Sullivan, and his mother.
