The Summer and Winter Olympic games in 1936 created an illusion of a new Germany on the world stage. The Democratic Weimar Republic had ended and the new Nazi regime had commenced its reign of militaristic, totalitarianism and anti-Semitism principals. The 1936 Olympic games were held to sheet those principals with Nazi propaganda and reveal the revitalized nation of Germany. The Berlin Summer games were a much higher standard than the Winter Olympics, however they both played interval parts for the Nazi propaganda machine.
