Have you ever wondered, “What type of person would I be in the Holocaust?” To give you an idea, here are some of the types of people there were. Some people were victims, and some perpetrators, while others rescuers. Though these people were very different, they played important roles in the playing out of the Holocaust. By taking a closer look at the victims, perpetrators, and rescuers, we are better able to understand the factors that influenced people's choices during the Holocaust. Many victims of the Holocaust showed universal characteristics. Elie Wiesel is just one of those victims. First, victims often lose their self worth and self confidence. Towards the end of Elie’s book, he talks about how it isn’t worth living anymore, because he had lost his dad. Second, they often feel hopeless. Elie thinks that he will never get out. and that he will die because of the harsh conditions of the concentration camps. Lastly, victims often suffer from PTSD. Hitler exhibits many of these universal traits. First, Hitler was a very manipulative person. He manipulated almost all of Germany into thinking that the Jews were bad for their economy, and in doing so, persecuted countless numbers of Jews. Second, during the Olympics, he portrayed himself as a father figure. Before events , he would have girls of the Aryan race give him flowers and salute him, to show his fatherly manners. Lastly, he shamed the Jews. He made them wear stars, which symbolized the “humiliation” of being a Jew.
