High School JROTC Instructors are retired Officers and Noncommissioned Officers carrying decades of military experience, whose responsibility is to teach students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. In order to become a JROTC instructor, the following questions must be addressed. What prerequisites are there to become an instructor, what additional training is required, what education institutions provides the training, and what is the hiring process? My research to answering these questions will focus on internet searches, governing agency of the JROTC program, and by leveraging local high school JROTC instructors for information. I believe my research will identify that gathering information from
Jackson told me that this training would be more of a class room type training than hands on like Basic. He also went to describe how with higher training and higher rank makes a difference between training and how you are treated. He used the term “Gentlemen School” when talking about higher training. This led me to ask if since the training is not as intense if communication with family was more relaxed. He summed up that it did and he expects to have his phone on him the entire time this summer in Arizona.
I have always enjoyed the classes taught by many different professors with various backgrounds at St. Francis. Grade improvement issues have arisen with a couple of other professors in the past; however, it has been peacefully resolved and never been escalated to this
The first vignette examines Air Force Colonel Hillandale’s relationships with the Country Team and Sarkhanese Government and his display of the SOF imperative, "Facilitate
All students have the possibility to learn and with the proper experience, they will focus. There are many different ways used to build respect and a positive rapport with students. One that has always work is helping the students feel comfortable with the environment. When the environment is positive and comfortable to the students, the student tends to worry less and be natural. Building a positive rapport is not easy and it takes time and dedication.
My time in JROTC has been one of the better things that I have done. JROTC has shown me that I need to make sure I have been on my best behavior. JROTC has shown me that I need to make sure that I have honor, Integrity and Respect. Not only for others but also for myself and the leaders of this fair country in which I live. JROTC has shown me that there are many life skills that I will learn as I continue on with my career within the military.
From my personal experience I have felt welcome and felt encouraged to be a better person than I ever thought possible. As have the past, present, and future cadets. The goals are the most simple yet the most complex in any one of my classes! The program has made me, along with countless others, very proud to be in it. JROTC had very
All my life, my identity has been influenced by the people that share the same ethnicity, culture, and living style as I do. For me, being Hispanic means something bigger than just coming from a specific ethnicity that puts me in a certain category from the moment I was born. It’s a way for me to stand out from the status quo and be part of a group that connects back to great moments in history. Being an AB540 student, I connect to my Hispanic community by being an immigrant. By sharing the struggles and obstacles that countless people in my community face, I have become inspired to try and help others and change the way people think of undocumented immigrants.
The article “Higher Education Has Always Been a Mess” written by Sol Gittleman talks about the roller coaster of a ride that Higher Education has gone on. He starts off saying that in the mid-20th century, academia became idolized, embodying everything great about America while in good times, and yet was still demonized, and embodying everything wrong while times were bad (we still see this today). Today academia is seen as a crazy mixture of both, which in really it is. He then goes on telling the story of how Higher Education came to be in America. After WWII we enjoyed a 30 year golden age, America is still the world leader but it has been lost in the noise, culture, politics and price.
The level of respect shown between peers and also between the staff and students was unlike any educational setting I had previously been exposed to. Additionally, I attended two or three seminars daily that invited both staff and guest speakers to introduce new topics and ways of life. I was introduced to topics such as knot theory, programming, feminism, higher dimensions, the history of waste disposal, game theory, general relativity, and string theory. I was able to interact with adults from all walks of life.
When adapting pop culture into different forms of media, it is necessary to change a variety of aspects to fit individualized nuances of each medium. The transformation of The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R.Tolkien, from a novel onto the screen is not an exception to this notion. However, Peter Jackson, the director of the popular film series, is known for staying fairly accurate to the original plot of the book. After all, when creating a film based off a novel, the director is not creating something completely his own, rather, he must stay accurate to the plot, in order to observe the wishes of the author and the expectation of his fans. While for the most part Jackson succeeds in his mission to fortify the narrative, rather than stray from
The other feature about Tech Schools that is different from other types of educational institutions is that there are both academic as well as shop related teachers found within the school. Because there is an environmental (shop versus classroom) as well as in some cases a philosophical difference between the two groups, there can at times be differing approaches to the educational process. When students were in the academic cycle, the classroom setting was a bit more structured and regimented, while in the shop cycle, the working environment consisted of a more hands-on and job-related venue. While the majority of teachers and shop instructors worked very well together, when I first began at Ellis Tech, that wasn’t necessarily the case.
The first day I went there was a student crying and Mr.Mikalov pulled him outside to talk to him in private because some kids don’t like talking about their feelings in front of everybody. While the students were doing their work I had a chance to walk around the classroom, I saw at least five rules in big letters in the back of the room, which reminded me off Hary Wong and his teachings off rules and procedures. After the bell rings and they go to math. The teacher starts the lesson by asking the class what they know about the subject and go from there. The teacher asks the students to turn and talk to the person next to them about what they learned or explain it to someone who doesn’t understand it.
My fifth grade summer started with my mother volunteering me as a tutor twice a week throughout the summer. I visited my neighbor’s house to assist her in tutoring kids with math and reading. I of course protested, but my mom being my mom made me do it anyways. After my first week, I began focusing primarily on tutoring elementary aged kids. It took me a few sessions to acclimate to a teaching role rather than a student.
There are certain said and unsaid rules and regulations that teacher and student follow. For example the student is aware that he or she has to give respect to the teacher and they know that there is a certain way they have to sit in class while being taught or for that matter standing up from their places greeting the teacher when they enter the class. The teacher knows that there is a particular way to address the class or help a student out. The teacher knows that the only way she or he can efficiently convey information or instructions is if the students are able to understand him or her thus it is very important for a mutual understanding to be established between them. These are all considered as symbols of
