Although, Friar Lawrence and Fate are partially to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet, the families of the two take most the blame. Friar Lawrence said to Romeo before marrying him to Juliet that “these violent delights have violent ends”, foreshadowing the death of Romeo and Juliet. After Romeo is banished for killing Tybalt, The Friar develops a plan for Romeo and Juliet to be together. This plan is for Juliet to drink a mixture from a vial that puts her to sleep for forty-two hours, making her appear dead to everyone else.
