The two civilizations I chose to write about are Ancient Egypt and Ancient Sumeria. These two really fascinated me, and I found it interesting to read about them, because they’re so different from one another. One civilization was more reserved while the other is quite the opposite, and enjoys the power war brings to them. The people of Egypt were strongly influenced by religion, and were known to articulate their selves in the form of art. Their faith and strong beliefs inspired many of their greatest pieces of art. They used many colors and filled the walls with paintings and sculptures. The Egyptians are most famously known for the great pyramids, such as the “Pyramids of Mycernius, Chefren, and Cheops” which are located in Giza, Egypt. These pyramids were made to be monumental tombs for the bodies of the pharaohs. The pyramids are an important part of humanities and Egypt’s history, because they symbolize who exactly the people of Egypt were, and how meaningful life after death was to them. …show more content…

Their technique of writing eventually turned in to letters and then developed in to sounds. The art piece known as the “Standard of Ur” gives us a reflection of the society and the events that took place. It depicts a story of war and gives us other details, like how the Sumerians felt about their society. The art work has many different meanings, but to me it shows that war was an important aspect in Sumerians life and so was rejoicing after a battle. Humanities reveal how the Egyptians and the Sumerians made spiritual and intellectual sense of the world. Imperative pieces of art and philosophy are the answers to understanding the fundamentals behind a society. It also helps us understand just how significant religion was to the different
