Comparing Beowulf And The Space Shuttle Challenger

Some may argue that characters/people don’t take risk and some may argue that they do. Some people argue that characters/people don’t take risk because they don’t like stepping out of there comfort zone. Others, however, may argue that characters do take risk to experience new things. I believe that in both stories, Beowulf and The Space Shuttle Challenger, these characters take risk to learn lessons, to conquer fears, and to test limits.
In both Beowulf and in The Space Shuttle Challenger characters show how they take risk to learn lessons and to conquer fears. In Beowulf a lesson learned by a character is that every battle fought is not always victorious. An example would be when Beowulf fought the dragon, although the dragon was defeated, beowulf was killed. Had Beowulf not taken the risk of fighting this battle he wouldn’t have known that every battle isn’t always victorious, and he would’ve also never conquered the fear of fighting this dragon. In The Space Shuttle Challenger each person that was on that shuttle took a risk to learn a lesson and to conquer a fear the minute they stepped foot on it. In Beowulf the battles fought with Grendel and Grendel’s mother were nothing compared to the battle fought with the dragon. He took a risk by testing his limits to see if he could defeat the dragon. Although beowulf was killed the dragon was defeated but had he not taken the risk he would’ve never known if he could defeat the dragon. In The Space Shuttle Challenger each person was trying to learn a lesson. Each individual took a risk of dying to learn the lesson on whether they could make it to space or not.
