1. After watching FOX’s Sleepy Hollow there are many differences between the short story and the show. The two most significant and meaningful changes in my opinion are Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. In the story Crane is a goofy looking individual, who works as the town’s school master, and is trying to gain the love of Katrina.
My final is about the difference between the book and the movie “The Outsiders.” This next paragraph is about the description difference between the book and movie. Then the paragraph after that will be about the description of the background or cars that the characters drive or live in. I think that the move and the book where basted of the same story but I think that when the directors made the movie with some different cars or house that can change the movie or they put different things in it so that the movie will look better. Altogether the movie and the book were pretty good and had good meaning to it about want to think of life and it’s alright to not be tough and hard.
Is there ever a time that a movie is the same as the book? Well not in The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin which the GLMS sixth grade students read and watched. But in most movies based of of books a lot of key details are left out. The students tried to figure out who murdered Sam Westing. The Westing Game movie and novel contain many similarities and differences that are worth noting.
Stephen King’s “The man in the Black Suit” is his homage to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Brown”. Stephen King believed that “Young Goodman Brown” is one of the ten best stories ever written by an American. “Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne and “The Man in the Black Suit” by Stephen King have similar storylines, yet a different climax and resolution. First, both stories take place in a different setting and time period. “Young Goodman Brown” was written in 1835, whereas “The Man in the Black Suit” was written in 1996.

Into the Wild is a personal tale of Chris McCandless’ journey as he runs away from home to try and live in the Alaskan wilderness. The book follows the story through the eyes of the author as he investigates the mysteriousness of Chris’ life through the eyes of those he came in contact with and the journals left behind. However like every book adapted into movie there are slight differences and characterizations throughout the story that aren’t expressed deeply enough or seen in a different light. In the non-fiction book Into the wild by Jon Krakauer and the short story “to build a fire” by Jack London, two authors describe “similar” lives “in the wild” with the worst ending. However,same process could lead to various answers, through comparing and contrasting the Into the Wild and To build a fire, readers could comprehend the homologous but different views for the nature lives from two authors. Could you imagine being chased by a headless man riding on a horse? “Sleepy Hollow” is about Ichabod Crane, a schoolmaster in the small town of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod likes a girl named Katrina Van Tassel, but the only thing in his way is Brom Bones. The two versions of “Sleepy Hollow” incorporate many similarities and differences.
Montana 1948 and Indian camp are two very interesting stories that show lots of themes and that makes these both adventures very engaging. In Montana 1948, David lives through a tough time with his family since they realize that his uncle Frank sexually harasses Indian women by pretending he’s a doctor. In Indian camp, there is another twist to the story, Nick’s dad is a doctor but a very good one and goes to where an Indian woman has been trying to give birth for 2 days. Although these two might be completely different stories they still have their very engaging connections.
Ray Bradbury and William Golding have very similar themes in their books. All the way from human interaction and social conditioning. Lord of the Flies consists of a story due to the lack of social conditioning and Fahrenheit 451 portrays what it's like after too much too powerful social conditioning. Connecting the overlapping ideas of social conditioning, knowledge, identity, and truth in these two novels leads to a better understanding of human behavior.
The movie Grand Illusion was very different from the novel All Quiet on the Western Front. The stories and settings were completely different, and had very little to do with each other. But even though the film and the book are completely different, they both give the same idea of the war being a horrible place, the movie had just approached the topic very mildly (in comparison to the book). The movie had avoided war on the battlefield, along with harsh conditions, and focused in a prison, instead. The novel however felt like a heavier topic, more emotional.
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Tom Robinson and Arthur “Boo” Radley are two characters who represent the mockingbird. In the midst of finding who Boo truly is, Atticus Finch explains to his children, Jem and Scout, that it is a sin to kill the bird because they don’t do anything but make music. As the story progresses, and the two “mockingbirds” are being accused and attacked both verbally and physically, the identity of the mockingbirds surfaces. Tom Robinson was a crippled African American man whose left arm was a foot shorter than his right, where it was caught in a cotton gin.
Often in literature, comparing stories will lead to revelations about human nature. Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games both share a motif of being trapped and take human nature to another level. Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games prove that working together and looking out for each other will give you a greater shot at victory. One very significant similarity is that in both books the characters are trapped on an island and fighting for their safety and survival. In Lord of the Flies, school boys, Ralph, Roger, Simeon, Piggy, Jack and along with other kids are trapped on an island and have to fight for survival, but, after a while of being on the island the civilization starts to die and so do the boys from violence and lack of communication.
Tim Johnson is originally a nice dog but is killed because it was necessary. Tom Robinson is a good and honest man who is convicted of rape and is later killed. Boo Radley is a shy, but a helpful person who does not like being with other people so, he should not be in the spotlight, and he is not. What happens with Tim and Tom is really sad especially because they meant good and no harm, but are killed. In conclusion, this book is filled with good themes that can inspire people to learn from them and live with
I see how Jem is trying to teach Scout a lesson about violence is not good. I agree with you that her brother Jem takes more care of her than her father Atticus does.
