In the stories Brian’s Winter and Call of the Wild the two main characters reveal how they have different personalities and similarities by their thoughts and action. Their personalities can be compared and contrasted from each other like how each of them uses their instincts to help them with surviving out in the wild or rather how each of them act in a tough situation when faced with a situation like the bear in Brian’s Winter. One example of how they are similar is how they think in general. To begin with both main characters have different character traits like Buck not being as confident and more nervous and anxious compared to Brian. You can see this when Buck is looking for a place to sleep that he begins to lap the camp trying to find a place to stay and when he tried to go in the tent and got yelled at. Brian is more confident, and I think that he clearly shows this when he kicked the bear in its butt instead of trying to hide or run. Another difference is the different dangers that they are in. In the story Brian’s Winter he faces the danger of the bear that wandered into his camp when he was asleep. While on the other hand Buck from Call of the Wild faced the danger of the cold and hypothermia. That didn’t turn out good for Brian though sense he got attacked by the bear after he kicked it, but Buck on the other hand didn’t understand what was happening in his story he didn’t know why Perrault and Francios would not let him into the tent and was confused on what to do after he didn’t know about the danger that he was getting into with not knowing where to sleep while Brian was aware of the bears and knew about them and what they could
