She describes the process she went through in the attempt to create a space in which women would feel safe to express their opinions without the interference of men. Many famous buildings we have today still show the same basic designs. For example, the Lincoln Memorial is very similar to the Parthenon.
Chicago is a fabulous city, known for its endless opportunity and diverse culture. The famous author Mark Twain once said "It is hopeless for the occasional visitor to try to keep up with Chicago-she outgrows his prophecies faster than he can make them." And no doubt those words are very well true. Chicago was founded by Point du Sable, a successful French trader who built a trading post at the future sight of Chicago. It turned out that this spot would soon grow into one of the biggest cities in the U.S.

Which place has better living between Winston-Salem and Shanghai? Winston-Salem is a better place to live. I grew up in America so the gleaming skyscrapers were as familiar to me as rice stalks are for the Cantonese. Because such tall modern buildings were something that I have come to expect, so I didn’t want to live in that kind of building, instead I wanted something old, something traditional, something that breathed out the essence of Chinese culture and architecture. We tried to find a place on our own, we explored the tiny old villages within Guangzhou. Finally we settled on a magnificent place in a tiny village just near the heart of the city. The house was old, the walls were 20kg stones smoothed by the Pearl River and stacked two stories high.

One of the most important ideals of modernism is decompartmentalisation. According to Paul Greenhalgh’s features of modernism decompartmentalisation is breaking down the obstacle between appearance, methods, and the community of people, so that a visually and affective suitable design can be produced for the mass population. After reading this the Chrysler Building is indeed a good example of decompartmentalisation. The Chrysler Building is indeed a visually and affective suitable design that was build for a large number of people to use as offices. 2.
Some say in today’s society no one really pays attention to what we are communicating to one another. Tearing down the barriers of time and space, media over-stimulates our egos and blocks the whispers of the needs of people around us. Urban environments literally squeeze us together yet our hearts are never this far apart. Hong Kong, despite its notorious population density, is one silent city. This impression lasted a long time as this has been the case for me while growing up.
